Darshan & Temple Guidelines
A space of silence, respect, and conscious presence
Everyone is warmly welcome to visit the temple for darshan, prayer and quiet contemplation. We ask all visitors to honour the sacredness of the temple and to follow the traditions and worship practices observed here.
Temples in different traditions and regions may follow different customs and ways of worship. The guidelines below reflect the practices observed at Shiva Temple Estonia in Lilleoru.
Visiting the Temple
• Please leave your shoes at the temple entrance.
• While visiting the temple, we kindly ask you to preserve silence, respect and awareness.
• Please do not photograph the murtis. General views of the temple are allowed.
Darshan and Prayer
Everyone is welcome to receive darshan of Shiva, Shakti and the other deities, to offer prayers and to spend time in the sacred atmosphere of the temple. Visitors are also welcome to participate in temple ceremonies that are open to the public and to make offerings in accordance with the guidelines below.
Puja and the Murtis
The murtis in the temple are sacred and consecrated.
Visitors do not perform puja or abhishekam directly to the murtis.
Please do not touch the murtis or place or apply anything directly onto them, including chandan or tilak, kumkum or rice, flowers, water or milk, oils, powders or other substances.
Puja, abhishekam and the application of sacred substances directly to the murtis are performed only by the temple pujaris according to the worship traditions observed at Shiva Temple Estonia.
We kindly ask all visitors to respect this practice, even if the customs in other temples they have visited may be different.
Making an Offering
If you wish to make an offering as part of your bhakti, you are very welcome to do so.
Flowers, fruit and incense may be offered in the designated places in front of the deities. If you are unsure where or how to make an offering, please ask the pujari or a member of the temple team.
You are also welcome to offer dana. Donations support the daily pujas and other temple rituals, as well as the care, maintenance and continued development of the temple.
These guidelines help us preserve the sanctity and sacred atmosphere of the temple and ensure that the worship traditions of Shiva Temple Estonia are respectfully maintained.

During the Cold Season
During the cold season, the main sanctums of Shiva and Shakti are closed. During this period, daily puja and worship continue through the Atma Linga in the Ashram.
